About EnJEL

Where engineering, technology and sustainability meet

EnJEL is a research, engineering and development firm founded by KNUST-trained engineers and computer scientists. We bridge academic research and practical solutions for industry, government and communities across Africa.

Our mission

To turn rigorous research into engineering and digital solutions that are affordable, secure and sustainable.

Our vision

An Africa where energy, data and industry are built on local expertise and world-class evidence.

The name

Like an angel, a messenger, we carry knowledge from the laboratory to the people who need it.

How we work

Research. Engineering. Development.

Research

Mechanistic modelling, data collection and peer-reviewed analysis that establish what works and why.

Engineering

Process design, energy systems and secure cloud architecture, sized and costed for real operating conditions.

Development

Pilots, software and deployments, monitored with data so every project feeds back into the next.

Our journey

The path to EnJEL

  1. 2014–2025Founders train at KNUST, UENR and the University of Ghana in petroleum, environmental and renewable energy engineering, climate change and computer science.
  2. 2022–2024Energy data analysis on the Innovate UK-funded Ghana GOALS mini-grid and clean cooking project.
  3. 2025Paper accepted in Computers & Security (Elsevier); two oral presentations at iCAD 2025; work begins on the Horizon Europe Trans-Sahara Living Labs.
  4. 2026EnJEL is established to bring engineering, IT and sustainability under one practice.
